Service Description
Novel Studies: Reading for Meaning and Context is a virtual group designed to assist students with the building of strategies needed to increase proficiency with English Language Arts. This group is designed specifically for junior high and high school students who may need extra support and scaffolding for reading comprehension. Students will be reading high interest novels that have been specifically selected to be engaging, have strong themes, and relevant to today’s times, and will be guided through increasing their analytical and comprehension skills. In each session the students will have the opportunity to practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Assessments will be embedded throughout the instruction allowing the students a comfortable space to practice and build individual strategies without the stress of being in a formal testing environment. As with all small groups, there is a $35 registration fee. If this fee creates a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to claire@1knacl.com for assistance. Courses are billed as a monthly payment, and we do accept vouchers/POs from charter schools. Groups must have a minimum of 3 students and are capped at 8 students. This is to help ensure that everyone has access to the instructor support they need! If more than 8 students wish to enroll in a course, we will do everything we can to run a second section, but that is not always possible.
Cancellation Policy
By enrolling in a course, class, workshop, or session, you are agreeing to abide by the rules and guidelines laid out in the Student and Family Handbook. Failure to comply with the Handbook may have different consequences, up to and including discontinuation of services without a refund. Group sessions are billed by month or payment period, so cancelations after the first session begins will be effective at the beginning of the next month/payment period.
